Organizing Institutions

The Conference is organized by the Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua (USMA) and Quality Leadership University (QLU), with support from other universities that belong to the Latin American University Research and Doctoral Support (LAURDS), co-financed by the Erasmus Program of the European Union.

Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua (USMA)

The Universidad Santa María La Antigua (USMA) is the Catholic University of Panamá. Established in 1965, is the only not-for-profit educational non-governmental organization in Panama, Its Great Chancellor is the incumbent Archbishop of Panamá.

Since its establishment, USMA has graduated almost 35,000 professionals in a wide range of disciplines, making a significant contribution to Panama’s educational and socio-productive fields.

Intellectual productivity, scientific research, technology and innovation are fundamental functions of modern universities. USMA, as a Catholic university, embraces this mission, which is also contained in the Apostolic Constitution on Catholic Universities “Ex Chorde Ecclesia”.

According to several rankings (QS, 4ICU, Webometrics ans others), USMA is one of the top three Panamanian universities. USMA has improved significantly within current Latin American ranks, specially within the last three years.

Quality Leadership University (QLU)

Quality Leadership University was founded in 1997 under the leadership of Oscar León, who had the vision to offer the highest academic level in Panama with the aim of preparing leaders and professionals who contribute to the development of the region. To date, more than 3,000 Panamanians and foreigners from all over the world have received their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various professional areas. With more than 1,600 students enrolled in our bachelor’s and master’s programs as well as in our English for Professional Success and Continuing Education programs, Quality Leadership University maintains academic agreements with globally recognized universities such as University of Louisville, Florida International University, Towson University, Illinois State University, University of Chile, and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
