LEVEL 1
Students will learn units 1-3 in the Teen 2 Teen 1 book.
- Unit 1 focuses on the topic of greetings. Students will learn different words to greet others and some ways to say goodbye. Students will be able to identify different subject pronouns and practice them in simple sentences with the verb ‘be’. Students will be able to produce both affirmative and negative statements using the present simple tense of the verb ‘be’.
- Unit 2 addresses the topic of the family in which students will be able to identify different family members and talk about their own families. Students will be able to ask questions about other people’s families using the simple present question form of the verb ‘be’. Students will practice yes/ no questions as well as information questions with ‘who’ and ‘what’. Students will also be able to show possession using the possessive ‘s / s’ grammar.
- Unit 3 covers the topic of countries, nationalities, and hometowns. Students will learn vocabulary for various countries and be able to identify the nationality from the countries. Students will be able to ask questions in the simple present with ‘where’ and the verb ‘be’. They will be able to answer questions with ‘in’ to describe location and ‘from’ to describe origin.

- Unit 4 focuses on the topic of time and schedules, where the students will put into practice vocabulary about; clock times, school subjects, days of the week, and expressions of punctuality. Students will be able to ask questions in the simple present using ‘what time’, ‘when’, ‘what day’, and the verb ‘be’. Students will be able to describe their schedules using the preposition ‘at’ for times.
- Unit 5 addresses the topic of describing people. Students will learn vocabulary related to descriptions of people as well as adjectives to describe people’s eyes and hair. Students will learn how to apply the intensifier ‘very’ along with the adjectives to describe people. Students will be able to ask and answer information questions with ‘what color’ when talking about hair and eyes. Students will also learn to form questions with ‘or’ to give a choice between two things.
- Unit 6 covers the topic of entertainment events, where students will put into practice new vocabulary about different entertainment events as well as months of the year and ordinal numbers to refer to dates. Students will learn to ask and answer questions about age, using ‘how old’ with the verb ‘be’. Students will be able to talk about when different events take place using the prepositions ‘in’ and on’ with dates.

Through the topic of the home, students will use prepositions and expressions position of location to describe where people,furniture, and items are located. Students will also learn the form and function of the imperative tense and be able to say affirmative and negative commands.
- Unit 8 addresses the topic of the weather. Students will be able to talk about good and bad weather as well as free time activities to do based on the weather. Students will be able to suggest activities using the verb expression, ‘let’s/ let’s not’.
- Unit 9 covers the topic of places in the neighborhood. Students will be able to describe places in the neighborhood using different expressions of location. Students will learn the grammar ‘there is/ there are’ to talk about what is in the neighborhood as well as ask questions using ‘how many’.

Students will be able to clarify the clothing items they are talking about by using ‘this/ that/ these/ those’ and describe them with the intensifier ‘too’ and an adjective.
- Unit 11 addresses the topic of abilities. Students will learn new vocabulary about different activities and will be able to talk about their abilities using ‘can’ and ‘can’t’. They will be able to say to what degree they are able to do something as well as ask others questions about their abilities.
- Unit 12 covers the topic of reasons to visit a place. Students will be able to identify and give reasons to visit a place. Students will be able to make suggestions and give advice using ‘should’. Students will also be able to ask for advice using ‘should’.

- Unit 1 focuses on the topic of family and other relationships. Students will practice new vocabulary about relationships to others and will also be able to talk about what they are doing. They will learn the form, use, and spelling rules for the present continuous and will be able to say affirmative and negative statements.
- Unit 2 addresses the topic of activities at home. Students will continue to practice the present continuous through talking about what activities they are doing at home. Students will also be able to ask and answer yes/no questions in the present continuous.
- Unit 3 covers the topic of extra-curricular activities. Students will continue to learn more about the uses of the present continuous while discussing extra-curricular activities. Students will also learn how to ask information questions with various ‘wh-’ question words, as well as the rules for contractions with question words and ‘is’.

- Unit 4 focuses on the topic of food. Students will learn about count nouns and plural forms of food vocabulary. They will learn to talk about quantities of foods using ‘some’ and ‘any.
- Unit 5 addresses the topic of drinks and more foods where they will continue practicing count nouns and will learn about non-count nouns through vocabulary related to drinks and food. Students will learn to ask questions about food and drinks using ‘how much’ and ‘how many’. Students will learn to say simple affirmative and negative statements in the present simple form with verbs such as ‘need’, ‘want’, ‘like’, and ‘have’.
- Unit 6 covers the topic of daily routines. Students will learn verbs for daily routines that they will put into practice by talking about their routines. They will also learn to ask yes/no questions in the simple present, as well as practice the spelling rules for simple present conjugations.

Students will also learn to talk about how often they do something, using various time expressions of frequency. Students will practice the vocabulary while learning to ask information questions in the simple present tense.
- Unit 8 addresses the topic of occupations and work activities. Students will focus on the difference between when to use the present continuous or the present simple while talking about occupations and activities people do at work.
- Unit 9 covers the topic of ailments. Students will be able to identify different ailments as well as describe their ailments. Students will learn how to use the present continuous with future expressions to talk about future plans or arrangements.

Students will put into practice vocabulary about personal items and souvenirs and talk about them by using verbs of degree such as, ‘like’, ‘love’, ‘don’t like’, and ‘hate’. Students will also learn object pronouns and how to use them.
- Unit 11 addresses the topic of electronics. Students will be able to identify various electronic devices and explain how to use them. Students will learn to ask for permission using ‘can’ while practicing the vocabulary.
- Unit 12 covers the topic of describing people. Students will be able to describe themselves and others using different adjectives about people’s personalities. Students will learn the rules to form comparative adjectives and then practice comparing two people or things.

Students will talk about future party plans through the use of ‘be going to’. Students will be able to say affirmative and negative statements with ‘be going to’ as well as ask and answer yes/no questions.
- Unit 2 addresses the topic of locations and directions. Students will put into practice vocabulary about different places in a school or a building and explain where the places are located. Students will also be able to give directions to different locations in a building. Students will continue using ‘be going to’ in information questions to ask for more information about others’ future plans.
Unit 3 covers the topic of describing snacks and other foods. Students will be able to use new adjectives to describe different foods and identify different quantities of foods and snacks. Students will continue practicing the vocabulary while learning the rules for forming superlatives to compare 3 or more people, places, or things.

Students will learn the form and use of the future with ‘will’, and be able to say affirmative and negative statements. Students will also be able to ask and answer yes/no and information questions. Students will make predictions using the future with ‘will’ and explain how likely something will happen using degrees of certainty such as, ‘definitely’, ‘probably’, and ‘maybe’.
- Unit 5 addresses the topic of ways to help at home. Students will be able to talk about how they help at home while using ‘will’ for offers and requests. Students will practice the vocabulary while learning to use object pronouns after prepositions.
- Unit 6 covers the topic of outdoor sports. Students will be able to say different sports and identify what equipment is needed for each sport. Students will learn to form the real conditional to talk about the result of an action or condition.

- Unit 7 focuses on the topic of movies and other media. Students will learn vocabulary about different movie genres as well as adjectives to describe movies, books, and other media. Students will learn the form and use of the simple past tense of the verb ‘be’. Students will be able to say affirmative and negative statements, as well as ask and answer questions in the simple past with ‘be’.
- Unit 8 addresses the topic of the body and injuries. Students will be able to identify different body parts and talk about injuries. Students will practice talking about injuries and other actions in the simple past tense with regular and irregular verb forms.
- Unit 9 covers the topic of severe weather. Students will be able to talk about severe types of weather and explain how to prepare for severe weather events. Students will be able to ask and answer questions in the simple past tense while using the vocabulary from the topic.

- Unit 10 focuses on the topic of safety. Students will be able to talk about ways to stay safe in different situations. Students will learn the form and use of the past continuous. Students will be able to use the past continuous along with the simple past to talk about actions that interrupt another ongoing action.
- Unit 11 addresses the topic of tastes in music. Students will learn vocabulary for different genres of music and they will be able use different expressions to say how much they like a music genre. Students will continue with the past continuous and learn how to ask and answer information questions. Students will also learn how to use the negative question form to express surprise, confirm something is true, and to confirm someone agrees with your opinion.
- Unit 12 covers the topic of art in which students will learn about different types of art. Students will learn to ask information questions with ‘whose’ for possession. Students will learn possessive pronouns and put them into practice.

- Unit 1 focuses on the topic of talents and hobbies. Students will be able to identify various talents and hobbies and be able to talk about their own. Through the topic of talents and hobbies, students will learn the form and function of gerunds and apply them in various exercises.
- Unit 2 addresses the topic of good and bad habits. Students will be able to recognize good and bad habits, as well as identify their own. Students will continue to practice gerunds while learning about the form and function of infinitives. Students will examine the difference in usage between gerunds and infinitives so that they can produce them in written and oral communication.
- Unit 3 covers the topic of how the past was different. Students will learn expressions used for talking about the past and practice them alongside the grammar of ‘used to/ didn’t use to’. Students will learn and apply ‘as … as’ comparisons to explain the differences between life in the past versus today.
- Unit 4 is about past experiences through which the students will learn the form and usage of the present perfect tense with ‘ever’ and ‘never’. Students will be able to identify various personality traits and will be able to describe their own personalities. Students will practice the present perfect through asking and sharing about their life experiences.

Students will learn to use ‘already’, ‘just’, and ‘yet’ with the present perfect tense. Students will also learn to express their opinions using superlatives with the present perfect.
- Unit 6 addresses the topic of geographical features. Students will learn to identify different kinds of geographical features and describe them. Students will use ‘for’ and ‘since’ with the present perfect to clarify length of time. Students will also learn to ask questions in the present perfect with ‘how long’.
- Unit 7 covers the topic of Olympic sports and obligations. Students will learn to talk about different Olympic sports and express obligations using ‘have to/ has to’. Students will also be able to express rules and prohibitions using ‘must/ must not’.
- Unit 8 is about ways to protect the environment. Students will learn to identify different items that can be recycled as well as talk about different ways people can help the environment. Students will talk about expectations of behaviors using the expression ‘be supposed to’, and talk about possibilities using ‘might/ might not’.

- Unit 10 addresses the topic of bullying. Students will be able to identify and discuss different types of bullying. Students will learn how to use indefinite pronouns such as, ‘someone’, ‘something’, ‘no one’, ‘nothing’, and ‘anything’ to refer to a non specific person or thing.
- Unit 11 covers the topic of crime in which students will learn different verbs for crimes. Students will learn to form relative clauses with ‘who’ and ‘that’ to identify or add information about a noun.
- Unit 12 is about celebrations. Students will learn to talk about different ways to celebrate holidays or events. Students will continue practicing relative clauses and learn to form them with ‘where’ and ‘when’. Students will also learn how to use reflexive pronouns and ‘each other’ when the subject and object are the same.
